And the “verbose stream” it writes to. Outside of PS it ends up as STDOUT, not STDERR (of course, Write-Host has this issue too). Real world code frequently has to interoperable with tools crafted by other means. The only PS way I know of to actually write cleanly to the real stderr stream is [Console]::(“message”), which although cumbersome, at least is correct (by the conventions of stdio). PS isn’t a particularly good neighbor.
